March 8 exhibit information

Dare County Arts council is pleased to sponsor a juried exhibit in conjunction with International Women’s Day. The theme of the show is intended to celebrate women and their accomplishments.

Works that highlight women, from classical to contemporary, homemaker to business executive, peacekeeper to revolutionary, or any interpretation therein are welcome.

The show opens to the public on March 7 from 6pm – 8pm at the Dare County Arts Council Gallery in downtown Manteo, during the First Friday celebrations.

As part of the International Women's Day celebration, Saturday, March 8 will feature dinner, movie, and a lecture at The Avenue Grille, located in downtown Manteo.

The movie is a documentary provided by the Virginia Dare Business and Professional Women's Club, entitled "Business and Professional Women: A History, A Movement."

Keynote speaker for this event is Ms. Carmen Hooker Odom, former Secretary of the NC Department of Health and Human Services, and President of the Millbank Memorial Fund from 2007-2013.

Donations raised during this event will be given to the Dare County Arts Council to sponsor specific artistic programs for women and girls and The Virginia Dare Business and Professional Women's Club Scholarship fund to support women over 25 returning to school.
